What India is using, buying and moving

Data sources: Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, and Office of the Economic Adviser. Both indices use 2022-23=100. Older-base index levels are not spliced into these histories. The latest industrial-production observation is a quick estimate.

Data source: Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell. Figures are domestic product consumption in metric tonnes. PPAC marks current-year values provisional; the published June LPG decline is retained as reported.

Data source: Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Vahan dashboard. Registrations reported by participating Vahan offices. The dashboard is revised as offices and late registrations are added; the current calendar month is excluded.

Data source: Central Electricity Authority National Power Portal. Gross generation from stations above 25 MW. The CEA report excludes renewable energy sources and is not a measure of total electricity demand.

Data source: World Bank World Development Indicators. Renewables include hydro. This long-run annual series is kept separate from the Central Electricity Authority’s monthly large-station series because their coverage differs.

Data source: Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell. Import dependency is PPAC’s published consumption-basis measure, not a ratio reconstructed by the site. Import quantities are shown only where the official history provides a comparable figure.

Data source: Ministry of Steel Monthly Economic Report. Figures cover the same April-through-June period for each financial year. The newest observation is provisional.

Data source: Goods and Services Tax Network. A movement is counted once: within-state bills plus bills sent to another state. Incoming interstate bills are retained only as a reconciliation check. Assessable value is the value declared for tax documentation, not a measure of final consumer spending.
